Ahhh Spas and Salons

Some spas are part of a country inn or resort and are available to guests and day clients, while others are independent wellness centres.

Oakwood Resort’s Lakeside Spa offers a team of certified estheticians and Ontario Registered Massage Therapists in a soothing atmosphere that will leave you feeling refreshed and revitalized. They’ll even take group bookings! So why not organize a girls spa day? A sanctuary since 1999, The Spa in Bayfield is situated in a historic home overlooking Clan Gregor Square and offers reiki and reflexology as well as traditional spa services. Willow Creek Wellness, located within Willow Creek Country Inn south of Bayfield, offers detoxification retreats with juice fasting or soup cleansing, daily yoga and meditation and even colon hydrotherapy. As you enter through Aldea Spa’s (Exeter) glass and wrought iron doors,  an oasis of calm and comfort is created by soft lighting, soft earth tone colours and oversize leather reclining chairs – and that’s just the beginning. They offer a full menu of spa packages and treatments including spa services for men.

The Spa (Exeter) offers full and half-day packages, men’s and women’s services (tinting, waxing, pedicures, manicures, eyelash extensions, makeup, massage, facials etc.) and even services for kids 12-years and younger. Looking for some intense therapy? Head to Exeter Massage Therapy, where registered massage therapist and owner Stephanie Vanderbussche has a well-earned reputation of providing relief from the most nagging of aches and pains. They also offer Craniosacral Therapy, a hands-on method of treating compromised membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord.

A number of area salons offer eyelash extensions, spray tanning, reflexology, manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials, make-up application and make-overs. Check out Head to To Esthetics or Pretty Pampered Salon (who also offer ear candling!) in Forest, Accents Hair & Gift Studio, Salon 8180 Hair Design & Spa, Hair Benders, Curl Clipper on Mane and Hillside Spa in Grand Bend. Health Clinics & Hospitals

“Leaves of three, let it be.” But you didn’t know that was poison ivy! Or, your normally coordinated kid trips over his own feet and now needs stitches. It happens.  In rural Ontario, primary health care clinics don’t often have a walk-in clinic function, so it’s good to know the location of the closest hospital or walk-in clinic. Hospitals with 24-hour emergency services include South Huron Hospital (Exeter / 519-235-2700), Clinton Public Hospital (Clinton / 519-482-3440) and the Alexandra Marine & General Hospital (Goderich / 519-524-8323). Walk-in clinics include Grand Bend Dental & Health Centre (Grand Bend / 519-238-3384), Grand Bend Area Community Health Centre (Grand Bend / 519-238-2362 / Saturday only 9am-11:30am), South Huron Walk-In Clinic (Exeter / 3:45-6:45pm / 519-235-3343). Help with any medical question can be made to Telehealth 866-797-0000.
