July 5th: 4th Annual Accessibility Day and Paralympian Come to Forest – The Lambton Shores Accessibility Committee will be hosting the 4th Annual Accessibility Day on Saturday, July 5th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Kimball Hall (6276 Townsend Line, Forest). Following the tour at 1:30 p.m., guest speaker, Tyler McGregor will share his 2014 Paralympic journey.

July 22: Euchre Rama – The Port Franks Seniors are having an Euchre Rama, Tuesday July 22 at the Port Franks Community Centre. Port Franks Rd, Port Franks. Coffee, Tea and Timbits served at 9am. July 26-27: Scorpions Youth Beach Volleyball Tournament – Youth Volleyball Tournament on Grand Bend’s Main Beach. You must register to play. Spectators are welcome. For details visit www.scorpionsbeach.ca.

August 1-3: Thedford Funion Days – Come join the community in celebrating the 12th Annual Funion Days on August 1-3! Festivities begin on Friday, August 1 with the Thedford Legion Fish Fry. Seniors Bid Euchre Night will follow at the Thedford Village Complex. Saturday, August 2 will feature a parade, a kids’ baseball tournament, a vintage car show, BBQs, the Fireman’s Roast Beef Dinner, and the popular street dance on Main Street. Sunday, August 3 starts with the United Church Breakfast followed by Country Gospel Sunday Morning Gathering. Call 519-296-4994 for more information.

August 5: Port Franks Walking Program Meet at the Port Franks Community Centre every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9am. (8:00 am in the summer) for this hour long walk then coffee at St Annes in Port Franks. Everyone welcome!

August 14: Dining for Seniors Program every 2nd and 4th Thursday monthly at 12:00 noon at John’s By The Lake Anglican Church on Highway 21 N. across from Oakwood Golf Club.  Cost $9.00 per person.  Call Faye Blair-Skinner at 1-877-502-8277 ext. 2300 for reservations or more information.  For August our entertainment will be August 14 – George Rodriques with his classical guitar playing.  On August 28 – Karl Berg will be singing accompanied on his guitar.  Come on out for some good food and fellowship with other seniors in the local area.  We would love to see some new faces.

August 19: Grand Bend and Area Men’s PROBUS speaker for Tuesday August 19, 10:00am. at the Grand Bend Legion is Retired Lt. Commander, Canadian Navy, Mike Hoare. His topic is to be announced. Grand Bend and Area Men’s PROBUS meets the third Tuesday of every month, year round, at the Grand Bend Legion 10:00am. The club welcomes all retired or semi-retired gentlemen in the Grand Bend area. August 23: Household Hazardous Waste Depot – The County of Lambton Public Works Department, in partnership with Orange Drop and Clean Harbors Environmental Services will once again be offering two household hazardous waste (HHW) mobile events this summer at the Public Works Depot located at 6958 Townsend Line, Lambton Shores. September 20: Rotary Club’s Autumn Indulgence Autumn Indulgence is a gala Grand Bend tradition – a splendid evening of food, fellowship, and live entertainment. May 20: Cooking Can Be Fun After School 3pm. (3-6 year olds) Calling all children who like to cook after school. This program will introduce and teach children how to make nutritional snacks through hands on experience. May 21: Kid’s Cook 10am. Join us for a fun cooking experience. We will chop, measure, mix, and taste some very yummy creations. You won’t want to miss this tasty treat!

May 27: Bee Fit For Preschoolers 10am. The Bee Fit program is full of different activities for children ages 3 – 6 that will help promote physical activity in their everyday play.

May 28: Tickle Rhymes and Songs For Infants 10am. This play based music program is designed for babies 0-12 months. We will focus on familiar rhymes, songs and stories that parents can do at home.

May 30: Shake, Rattle & Roll 10am. The children will be moving, listening and playing musical instruments. Please join us for a fun morning.

May 31: Dad’s Connection 9:30am-12pm. Calling all Dads, Grandpas and Uncles…come on out to the Ontario Early Years Centre with your child enjoy a snack, and a fun-filled morning of playing. This Saturday we will be working with wood. All programs/activities take place at Kinnwood Best Start Hub, 37 Morris St. Forest. Shriners Hillbillies Meat Raffles: September – May at Grog’s Restaurant from 2-4pm. Held the first Saturday of each month. Funds raised go towards supporting Shriner’s Hospitals.

Ausable Port Franks Meat Raffles: Third Saturday of each month at Grog’s Restaurant from 2-4pm. Proceeds go to Optimist projects and community events.

North Lambton Super Strokers Meat Raffles: Tuesdays at Skeeter Barlow’s in Forest. Raffle begins at 5:30pm with first draw at 5:45pm. Proceeds will be used to offset the cost of attending World Club Crew Championships in Ravenna Italy in September 2014.

Arkona Lioness Meat Raffles: Second Saturday of the month, September – May at Grog’s Restaurant from 2pm. Funds raised go towards supporting local youth groups, seniors, and other community needs in the Lambton Shores Area.

Combined Probus Club of Forest Meetings Held on the second Wednesday of the month from 10am-12pm in the basement of the North Lambton Community Health Centre. There is a short business meeting followed by social/coffee time. Guest speakers give interesting talks on varied topics from 11am-12pm.

I CAN Program (Children, Activity, Nutrition): Free afterschool program for children ages 6-13yrs. Provides a variety of physical activities and games regardless of athletic ability. A nutritious snack will be offered that the children will help prepare. Children will also have time to express their creativity through fun and meaningful crafts. The program runs in Forest on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2:30-5:30pm at the Shores Recreation Centre and in Thedford on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3-6pm at the Legacy Recreation Centre. Lambton Shriners Club Pop Can Drop-Off Locations The Lambton Shriners Club is collecting empty pop cans, beer, wine and liquor containers to raise funds for Shriner Projects. Drop off locations in Lambton Shores include the Grand Bend Fire Hall, the Northville Fire Hall and the Forest Fire Hall. Please bag the containers and place in the labelled bins.
